Location: Vancouver
Department: Sales & Operations
Reporting to: Assistant General Manager
Role Overview
We love what we do – and it shows! Time Out Market is the division of Time Out that brings our food and cultural experiences to life for our guests, readers, and clients.
The Events & Group Sales Manager will be a crucial, dual-focused role. The main task will be to drive and manage corporate group sales to meet and exceed targets, coupled with providing essential support and leadership in daily operations management and event coordination to ensure a seamless, high-quality guest experience.
Key Objectives
Event & Corporate Group Sales, Sales Development & Commercialization
Revenue Generation & Growth Strategy: Own and exceed quarterly and annual sales quotas across private dining, semi-private bookings, full buyouts, beverage programs, and space rentals. Leverage historical booking data and local market trends to optimize pricing models and capture new growth opportunities.
Full-Cycle Sales & Client Experience: Lead the complete sales lifecycle from initial inquiry to signed contract. Create tailored proposals and conduct immersive site tours highlighting the food hall’s multi-vendor culinary offerings, atmosphere, and flexible event capabilities.
Proactive Pipeline & Market Development: Formulate target-driven sales strategies to build a recurring pipeline using cold outreach, LinkedIn, DMCs, local partnerships, and targeted campaigns. Expand into untapped business segments with innovative sales packages beyond traditional event formats.
Client Portfolio Diversification: Nurture high-value commercial relationships across corporate (C-suite dinners, product launches, holiday parties), social (weddings, milestones), and association/non-profit sectors to ensure year-round pipeline resilience.
Vendor Integration & Culinary Packaging: Collaborate with food hall vendors to design high-margin catering menus and tasting packages, ensuring pricing models align with event revenue goals while maintaining a cohesive, elevated guest experience.
Forecasting, Reporting & CRM Management: Work with executive leadership to refine sales forecasts, track key KPIs, and maintain accurate CRM data. Deliver monthly and quarterly reports analyzing converted revenue, pipeline health, and market trends to shape future budgeting.
Event Coordination & Client Experience
End-to-End Client Communication & Inquiry Management: Serve as the central, high-touch point of contact for all B2B and B2C group inquiries. Ensure rapid response times (within 24 hours), build strong client rapport, and manage expectations from the negotiation phase through post-event debriefs.
Seamless Internal Logistics & Detailed BEO Execution: Meticulously draft and distribute Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), floor plans, timelines, and dietary requirement sheets. Communicate event specifications clearly across internal departments (operations, bar team, floor staff, facilities, and security) to ensure flawless execution.
Vendor & Operations Management Alignment: Maintain daily synergy with the Operations Management team and independent kitchen concessionaires. Conduct pre-event briefings to ensure all food vendors are aligned on production timelines, guest counts, and special service requirements.
On-Site Event Leadership & Operations Oversight: Lead on-site execution for large-scale buyouts and high-profile events. Troubleshoot real-time challenges, supervise service flow, enforce health and safety regulations, and maintain strict adherence to service standards to ensure exceptional guest satisfaction.
Post-Event Reconciliation & Client Retention: Oversee post-event billing, vendor revenue split reconciliations, and feedback collection. Establish structured follow-up sequences and client appreciation initiatives to convert one-time event hosts into long-term, repeating clients.
Market Operations Management & Strategic Partnerships
Daily Market Opening & Closing Execution: When required, systematically execute scheduled morning opening and night-of closing procedures. Ensure the food hall space, event zones, and vendor stalls consistently meet operational readiness, cleanliness, and safety standards.
Operational Support to General Management: Act as a key leadership partner to the General Management team, assisting with day-to-day administrative duties, inventory checks, vendor relations, and troubleshooting operational bottlenecks during peak service hours.
360-Degree Stakeholder Engagement (B2B & B2C): Actively gather feedback from venue guests, corporate event organizers, and daily market visitors. Use these insights to refine operational procedures, elevate customer service standards, and enhance overall guest engagement.
Daily Operational Quality & Staff Supervision: Supervise floor staff, event service teams, and hospitality hosts during shifts. Provide ongoing coaching, foster a positive service culture, and maintain a high standard of front-of-house professionalism.
Oakridge Park Strategic Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison with Oakridge Park management to support and execute joint catering initiatives, seasonal community programming, and large-scale public activations. Align internal event strategies with Oakridge Park’s overall destination branding to maximize foot traffic, cross-promotional opportunities, and shared venue value.
Skills & Attributes
