Position Summary
We’re looking for an Intermediate SharePoint Developer with strong hands-on development experience who enjoys solving business problems and working directly with clients.
In this role, you’ll take ownership of assigned client requests and projects, from understanding requirements and estimating work to development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support. You’ll be expected to work independently on routine and moderately complex solutions while collaborating with the Development Team Lead on more complex technical decisions or higher-risk changes.
Your work will focus on developing, implementing, and supporting SharePoint solutions, including intranets, document management, integrations, and workflow automation. This includes configuring sites, managing permissions, developing custom components, and troubleshooting existing solutions. The primary focus is SharePoint development and solution delivery rather than general IT support or tenant administration.
Compensation and Benefits
· Base salary: $100,000-$120,000 CAD per year, depending on relevant experience.
· Vacation 4 weeks plus 5 care days
· Health spending account and health care included
· Partial remote and in-office work as agreed. Candidates must be based in Metro Vancouver, BC, and available to work in the office as needed.
What You Will Do
· Gather requirements directly from clients, investigate issues, estimate work, communicate progress, and deliver agreed solutions across assigned projects.
· Build and maintain SharePoint Framework (SPFx) web parts and extensions using TypeScript and React, including improvements to existing customizations.
· Deliver SharePoint intranets and document management solutions using appropriate sites, libraries, lists, metadata, content types, navigation, and search.
· Configure permissions, inheritance, and external sharing; apply agreed governance, ownership, and site lifecycle practices.
· Write PowerShell scripts using PnP PowerShell for provisioning, configuration, assessment, and repeatable delivery.
· Build and support Power Automate cloud flows and SharePoint-connected Power Apps for forms, approvals, notifications, and document processes.
· Integrate SharePoint with Microsoft 365 services and external applications using SharePoint REST APIs and Microsoft Graph, with appropriate authentication and permissions.
· Plan and deliver migrations to SharePoint Online. Assess content and permissions, troubleshoot issues, and validate results against the agreed scope and tool capabilities.
· Test, review, package, deploy, and document solutions, including release validation, appropriate recovery steps, and client handover or user guidance.
· Develop reusable components, scripts, and templates that can be configured and maintained across client environments.
· Manage competing priorities and involve the Development Team Lead when architecture, security, migration complexity, or delivery risk requires additional review.
Required Experience
· 4+ years of professional SharePoint development experience, including recent SharePoint Online work.
· University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Management, Business Technology, or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Hands-on experience coding and delivering production SPFx solutions using TypeScript and React, with solid JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and Node/npm fundamentals.
· Experience designing, implementing, and supporting SharePoint intranets and document management solutions.
· Solid knowledge of SharePoint information architecture, metadata, content types, permissions, inheritance, external sharing, and practical governance.
· Practical PowerShell scripting experience using PnP PowerShell.
· Experience using SharePoint REST APIs or Microsoft Graph, with an understanding of authentication and permission requirements.
· Hands-on migration experience using ShareGate, Microsoft's migration tools, or equivalent tooling, including assessment and validation.
· Experience building and supporting Power Automate flows and SharePoint-connected Power Apps.
· Experience maintaining and troubleshooting existing solutions, using Git, and testing and deploying changes responsibly.
· Ability to independently gather requirements, estimate work, and deliver solutions while communicating clearly with clients and knowing when to involve the Development Team Lead.
Preferred Experience
· Microsoft Purview retention policies, retention labels, records management, or information protection.
· Reusable provisioning approaches, deployment automation, or advanced Power Platform solutions using Dataverse.
· Complex migrations, legacy SharePoint modernization, or custom search experiences.
· Azure Functions, backend API development, or broader Microsoft 365 integrations.
· Consulting experience working across multiple clients.
You do not need every preferred skill. Strong SharePoint development and sound delivery judgment are our priorities.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first several months, you will:
- Understand client environments and independently handle routine requests and moderately complex enhancements, keeping clients informed and consulting with the Development Team Lead.
- Deliver tested, documented SharePoint solutions that meet agreed requirements.
- Contribute to developing reusable components, scripts, or implementation approaches that benefit future client work.
