About AnodyneAnodyne is a Vancouver-based company focused on the sustainable production of our most important chemicals. We are scientists, engineers, and innovators with a passion for sustainability and a shared vision to improve how we make chemicals and fuels. Our team partners with leaders in synthetic biology, electrolysis, and plant design to implement our technology at scale.
About the RoleWe’re looking for an organized, hands-on Lab Manager to run the day-to-day operations of both of our Burnaby R&D laboratories: our molecular biology/biochemistry lab and our electrochemistry lab. You’ll own the systems that keep both labs safe, well-stocked, and ready for research. Working closely with the Health, Safety & Facilities Manager, you’ll be the go-to person for our biologists, chemists, engineers, contractors, and vendors, coordinating shared activities across both labs and resolving operational issues before they slow our research down.
What You’ll Do- Manage day-to-day operations across the molecular biology/biochemistry and electrochemistry labs, acting as the primary point of contact for lab users, contractors, and vendors, coordinating shared activities between teams, and driving action items to closure.
- Own the labs’ operational records and trackers, including chemical and biological inventories, equipment logs, maintenance and calibration schedules, waste collection, SOP reviews, and onboarding and training records.
- Manage the lab operating budget and purchasing: monitor stock levels, obtain quotes, select vendors, and place orders for consumables, chemicals, gases, and small equipment.
- Oversee the equipment lifecycle, including performing calibrations, preventive maintenance, and commissioning or decommissioning of instruments, as well as managing service contracts and coordinating facility maintenance requests with vendors and contractors.
- Manage hazardous materials safely and compliantly, including chemical storage and segregation, compressed gas cylinders and gas detection, BSL-1 biological materials, hazardous waste disposal, and shipping and receiving of dangerous goods (TDG); keep fume hood certifications, eyewash and shower checks, and spill kits current.
- Plan and run lab onboarding, safety training, lab meetings, and routine inspections; track completion, follow up on open items, and participate in the Joint Health & Safety Committee.
- Lead lab-level emergency preparedness, including drills and response-plan updates, and coordinate first-response documentation and incident investigations, escalating to the Health, Safety & Facilities Manager as needed.
- Plan lab space and growth, including equipment allocation, shared instrument booking, and support for lab fit-outs, moves, and pilot-scale setup; identify process gaps, implement practical improvements, and take on additional projects as priorities shift.

- TDG certification, or willingness to obtain.
- Experience managing laboratory inventory and equipment records with strong attention to detail.
- Experience coordinating activities across interdisciplinary teams including scientists, engineers, contractors, and vendors.
