New Value Solutions, a national IT consulting company, is seeking an experienced Intermediate Release Lead II / Technical Project Manager to support the planning, coordination, and successful delivery of enterprise software releases and associated IT projects within a complex technology environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing software release schedules, coordinating deployments, overseeing concurrent technical projects, and ensuring smooth transitions across development, testing, infrastructure, operations, and business teams. This role requires a strong combination of project management expertise and hands-on technical knowledge of software delivery, CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, Agile/DevOps practices, and the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience managing enterprise software releases, coordinating cross-functional technical teams, identifying deployment risks, and ensuring releases are delivered on time, within scope, and with minimal disruption to business operations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain software release schedules, deployment calendars, release plans, milestones, and implementation timelines.
- Lead and coordinate concurrent small to medium-sized technical projects using established project management and Agile methodologies.
- Coordinate release activities across development, QA/testing, infrastructure, operations, application support, business stakeholders, and third-party vendors.
- Facilitate release readiness assessments, go/no-go meetings, production deployments, and post-release reviews.
- Manage release-related risks, issues, technical dependencies, and deployment challenges to ensure successful implementation.
- Ensure compliance with release management policies, IT change management procedures, security requirements, governance standards, and audit controls.
- Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to understand application architecture, deployment requirements, and technical dependencies.
- Review and coordinate CI/CD pipelines, deployment scripts, version control processes, and release automation activities.
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of deployment-related technical issues during release implementation.
- Coordinate testing, implementation, training, resource planning, and transition-to-support activities.
- Monitor release progress, manage project deliverables, and prepare status reports, release metrics, Gantt charts, and risk assessments for technical and business stakeholders.
- Maintain effective communication with project sponsors, product owners, technical teams, business partners, and external vendors to ensure alignment on release priorities and timelines.
- Support budgeting, resource allocation, project prioritization, and delivery planning while managing team commitments and removing project impediments.
- Identify opportunities to improve release management practices, deployment efficiency, automation, and overall software delivery processes.
Must Have Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in Release Management, Project Management, Software Development, or a related technical role.
- Demonstrated experience planning, coordinating, and managing software releases in Agile and/or DevOps environments.
- Strong working knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies, including development, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD practices, deployment pipelines, release automation, and software delivery processes.
- Experience working with version control systems such as Git.
- Demonstrated project management experience leading cross-functional technical initiatives and coordinating multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, organizational, and technical coordination skills.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, risk management, and problem-solving abilities.
Nice to Have
- PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, Scrum Master, or ITIL certification.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub, Jira, ServiceNow, or similar release and project management platforms.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.
- Knowledge of enterprise IT infrastructure, networking, application support, and production operations.
- Experience coordinating enterprise-scale software releases within regulated, public-sector, or complex environments, including compliance, security, and audit requirements.
- Familiarity with scripting or programming languages such as PowerShell, Python, C#, Java, or JavaScript.
