We’re looking for a Sous Chef to join the team at Pasta e Basta - a quick-service pasta concept inspired by one of our most beloved restaurants, Ask for Luigi, and located at Time Out Market in Oakridge Park.
This concept is built around a simple idea: great pasta, served quickly, without compromise. This is Luigi at its most direct form - familiar, comforting, and generous. No extras, no complications. Just good pasta, served well. Even in a quick-service setting, the goal remains the same: to create a moment of connection through food and hospitality.
This isn't your typical Sous Chef position! We're looking for someone who is just as passionate about people and hospitality as they are about food. This is a highly guest-facing role that combines kitchen leadership, hands-on service, and team development. You'll regularly interact with guests, work behind the counter, and help create a welcoming and engaging experience for everyone who visits.
A big part of this role is leading, coaching, and training the team. We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with people, communicates confidently, and knows how to bring out the best in others. Strong interpersonal skills, a natural ability to connect with guests, and a hospitality-first mindset are essential. Previous front-of-house experience would be a huge asset!
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in a high-volume kitchen in a similar leadership role
- A genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and confidence engaging directly with guests
- Strong ability to train, coach, and develop team members
- Previous front-of-house experience is a strong asset
- Hands-on, adaptable leadership style with a willingness to support both kitchen and counter service
- Strong understanding of kitchen operations, food quality, and service flow
- Positive, team-first attitude with strong organizational and communication skills
- Food Safe Level 1 is considered an asset
Schedule:
The anticipated schedule for this position is Wednesday through Sunday, although flexibility is required as shifts may fluctuate based on operational needs.
What we offer:
- 50% off food across all Kitchen Table Restaurants and Cafes up to a table of four
- Extended health benefits after 3 months of full-time employment
- A supportive, positive work environment
- Growth and advancement potential
Kitchen Table Group is a growing collection of neighbourhood restaurants, cafés, and gathering places built on one simple belief: food brings people together, but hospitality is what people feel and remember. We exist to inspire human connection - to create spaces that feel warm, personal, and deeply cared for, where teams are proud of the work they do, and guests feel genuinely welcomed.
We're the team behind 12 different hospitality concepts including Ask for Luigi, Di Beppe, Pourhouse, Gigi's, Mercato di Luigi, Giovane Caffe, Farina a Legna, Motoretta, and more. We can’t wait to meet you - apply now and let’s create something amazing together!
